favorite perfume

it's lanvin's éclat d'arpege. it has a light, fresh, springtime scent that is completely irresistible. i tried it at nordstrom years ago and the woman said "i always find myself recommending it to brides, i don't know why..." nordstrom says its notes are "lemon leaves, lilac, osmanthus, peach blossom, peony, wisteria, tea, cedarwood, amber, musks." but it doesn't smell like any one thing in particular--it's an ineffable mix. i recommend it to people who want to smell like nice clean soap--unobtrusive, but better than usual.

the only drawback is that the scent fades quickly, but that's all right--you don't always want something to linger. beyond the wonderful smell, the bottle is so beautiful, with a shiny golden stamp of a woman and child that the lilac perfume magnifies and refracts.
