spooky bat

alex and laura recently rescued beautiful spooky, who is albino, blind and deaf, probably as a result of unethical breeders trying to get a certain coat color! alex said this results in albino dogs a quarter of the time, and they are often killed. i'm so glad they found spooky, who is absolutely manic but deeply loving.

lazy summer

keep thinking about that moment in "bill cunningham new york" when he's receiving his award for officier de l'ordre des arts et des lettres and he says with his voice suddenly breaking, "it's as true today as it ever was. he who seeks beauty will find it." the moment was so special that both eve and i exclaimed aloud like we had to honor/increase/participate in the revelation by adding our own voices to it...

Film headshots for Anna!

I recently took some headshots for my friend, the actor Anna Szapiro (her website is here). I'm very grateful to Anna for being so patient and positive, since I'd never taken headshots before. They're on 35mm film, taken with my Canon Ae-1.

We both are very happy with the way they came out. Film has such a natural, lo-fi look that is now very unusual. And no need for Photoshop touch-ups, which is lucky since I don't know how to use Photoshop!
